PCSO distributes ‘charitimba’ to typhoon, flood-hit areas in Valenzuela, Navotas

PASIG CITY — Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) General Manager Mel Robles, in collaboration with Barangay Damayan officials, spearheaded the distribution of relief goods to families displaced by the recent southwest monsoon and Typhoon Carina. The relief items were packed in plastic water pails, dubbed “Charitimba.”

Robles stated that the initiative aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to provide assistance to those affected by severe weather events. The PCSO team initially delivered 500 “Charitimba” units to Valenzuela City, another 500 to Navotas City, and 150 to Quezon City.

Additionally, Robles has instructed all PCSO branches and small-town lottery authorized agency corporations to conduct immediate relief drives in areas impacted by the monsoon and typhoon.

“This program is our way of extending help to families who have been severely affected by the recent weather disturbances,” Robles said.

The initiative reflects the PCSO’s ongoing commitment to supporting communities in times of need, demonstrating the coordinated efforts of government agencies in disaster response and relief.

Likewise, Robles reiterated his earlier instructions to all PCSO branch offices and small-town lottery-authorized agency corporations (STL-ACCs) to carry out relief drives in their respective areas.

Our branch offices with STL-ACCs are simultaneously conducting relief drives nationwide,” Robles said.

According to PCSO, among its branches and STL-ACCs that have conducted relief drives include:

  • PCSO Rizal Branch, in partnership with Nineteen Aces Gaming and Amusement Corp STL-ACC, provided hot meals and groceries to more than 75 families at the evacuation site in Manuel Santos Integrated School, Barangay San Juan, Taytay, Rizal.
  • PCSO STL-ACC Greatminds Games and Amusement Corp., with Muntinlupa Vice Mayor Artemio Simundac, conducted relief operations in Barangay Bayanan, Muntinlupa City.
  • PCSO La Union Branch, with STL-ACC First La Union Leisure, distributed relief goods to 150 families affected by the typhoon in Bauang, Naguilian, and Caba, La Union.
  • Pines Estate and Gaming Corp. in Benguet and Baguio STL-ACC donated 25 sacks of rice to families affected in the area.
