MANILA — To alleviate the burden on residents following the onslaught of Typhoon Carina and high tide, the Malabon City government has launched its third “Walang Tulugan Serbisyo Caravan,” bringing various social services to affected communities.
“We Malabueños really came together to face the challenge of the flooding caused by the monsoon, Typhoon Carina, and high tide. We immediately conducted rescue operations as the water rose here in Malabon and provided relief goods to affected families,” Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said.

The caravan will run from July 29 to August 3, visiting barangays (villages) identified as most affected by the storm, including Panghulo, Potrero, Tinajeros, Dampalit, Tonsuya, and Catmon.
The City Health Department and Ospital ng Malabon (OSMAL) will lead medical missions offering free consultations, dental services, prenatal/postnatal care, family planning, pediatric care, and more. Free purified water and mobile phone charging stations will also be provided.
A mobile kitchen will serve hot meals for the first 500 residents in each area. Legal and civil registry consultations for lost documents will also be available.
“We know there are many needs of our fellow Malabueños after the storm. You can count on the city government that we will not stop helping those in need and ensure your safety in any situation,” Mayor Sandoval said.
City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete acknowledged the “big challenge” the city faced with the damage to the Malabon-Navotas River navigational gate, which caused severe flooding not seen in two years.
“We know how difficult it has been for our dear Malabueños. That’s why we are intensifying the delivery of services, especially since we were all affected by the typhoon. You can go to the areas where these activities will take place. This is for you,” Rosete told residents.
The city will also continue repacking and distributing relief goods, provide emergency cash assistance, and coordinate cleanup and preparations for the August 5 school opening. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
